I saw this yarn the other day while shopping at the local department store and decided to try it. I wasn't sure what to try, but I wanted to make something that would show off the color changes in the yarn. At first I thought maybe a scarf, and then I remembered seeing a hat that I wanted to try, and this is what I came up with.
I love how the pattern in the yarn came out, the color changes were beautiful and I like the dark jewel tones. I decided to add the fun fur to the brim to give it a little bit of a wilderness look. Atleast that's what I was aiming for.
The Tweed Stripes yarn was wonderful to work with and it's pretty soft when your finished. I tried it in both kniting and crochet. It works up great with both, but I prefer the finished look of the knitted items.
When making the hat I used just a little bit of the Fun Fur around the brim to give it a little bit of an outdoorsy look. I am glad that I did, because I think it added just little bit of something that the hat needed. The Fun Fur was very easy to work with when I knit it together with the Tweed Stripes yarn.
Note:
At first I did the two rows of Fun Fur/Tweed Stipes in the stockinette stitch. I didn't like how the Fun Fur came out, alot of it was on the inside of the hat. So I did it over, using a purl stitch on the right side and a knit stitch on the wrong side. (So, in other words I reversed the stockinette stitch to the inside of the hat for these two rows.) I found that when I did it this way, most of the fur stayed on the right side of the hat, and there was less to pull through when I finished.
When making the hat I used less than a skein of the Tweed Stripes yarn, and just about two or three yards of the Fun Fur.
I was very happy with the yarns, and I will be working with them again. At the moment I am using a different color Tweed Stripe yarn with another Fun Fur for a scarf. I love the way it's coming together and can't wait to finish it.
Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful day!
